Even though he didn't beat any records, do you think winning was important to Eric? Write down a time that you remember, that like Eric, you found something difficult, but had a go anyway.
This clip is about an Olympic athlete named Derek Redmond. You can see something terrible happen to him in the clip and yet he didn't give up.
Write down why you think it's important not to give up when you find something to be very hard. Can you think of any times when you found something hard and wanted to give up?
